Colonel Miroslav HOFÍREK

Director, Special Operations Forces, Czech Republic

Colonel Miroslav HOFIREK assumed command of the Directorate Czech Special Operations Forces in January 2023.

COL Hofirek was born in 1978 in Plzen. He enlisted in the Czech Republic Armed Forces in 1995. He was promoted to the officer rank in 1999 upon graduation from the Military University of the Ground Forces in Vyskov. COL Hofirek received a Master’s in Management Theory (CZE; Military University of the Ground Force; 2002) and a Master’s in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy (USA; Joint Advanced Warfighting School; 2021). 

COL Hofirek has served in various command and staff assignments within Special Operation Forces and intelligence community at team, company, squadron, battalion, brigade, and strategic headquarters levels. He has been deployed numerous times in Operation Enduring Freedom and ISAF (AFG; 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011) and served abroad (BEL; NATO Special Operations Headquarters; 2014-2017).

COL Hofirek decorations include the Cross of Merit of Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic (2 and 3 grade), the Medal in Service in Armed Forces of the Czech Republic (grade XX), the Medal of Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic for Service Abroad (all grades), the Medal of Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic for Service Abroad - combat mission (all grades), NATO Non-Article 5 medal - ISAF Operation, The US Army Commendation Medal.

COL Hofirek is married and has two children. His hobbies are history, reading, and sports. In addition to these interests, he enjoys spending time with his family.
