Matt Karres is Director of SOCOM Programs for the Communications Systems Segment of L3Harris Technologies.  

Before joining L3Harris, Karres served as a Program Manager at Booz Allen Hamilton for a large training and technology program in support of the US Army National Guard spanning the entire United States. Prior to his PM role with Booz Allen, Karres was the Deputy Program Manager for a diverse program supporting the US Army Special Operations Command.  

Prior to his roles in Booz Allen, Karres also served as the Chief of Staff of Remington Outdoor Company driving corporate synchronization. 

Karres is a retired US Army Colonel where he spent his 24-year career as a Green Beret in the US Army Special Forces. He has extensive combat and operational experience around the globe, with multiple tours in key leadership positions to Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and the Balkans.  

Karres has held numerous key Special Operations leadership positions, including a joint assignment at the US Special Operations Command and served as the Deputy Commander of the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). In his last position in the Army, Karres served as the Chief of Staff of 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) for two years where he was responsible for day-to-day operations, annual budget planning and execution, and the POM process. As the Chief of Staff he also was a key leader in the organizational transformation of 1st Special Forces Command. 

Karres holds a Master of Science Degree in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College, and a Bachelor of Arts from The Citadel.
